The second one, Joppa Junction + Plus (Joppa Junction to Cunningar, including the Yass Town branch and the Borrowa branch) will available in about six months time.Īdditionally, I have a pack of 6 low-frame C32's to be released shortly strictly for OR (they will not be available for MSTS). The first one, Tumulla Bank + Plus (Wallerawang to Orange East Fork - and including the Tarana-Oberon branch and part of the Cowra line from Blayney to Carcoar), will available in the near future. I still have a couple of routes as a WIP, originally being built for MSTS, but I'm now working through them to make them fully OR compliant. I'm still active - see the recent Great Zig Zag route I co-authored with Peter Newell - also I made a pack of 1905 era locos and coaching stock for the Zig Zag route. So, whilst I now once again have the ability to build routes and rolling stock and structures, the aim is only for running under OR.
Since Win 10 came out, I've been able to reinstall MSTS (ONLY for route editing - nothing else) and TSM. So now my major emphasis for RUNNING trains is only for OR.
However during this time, I did a lot of experimentation with Open Rails.
Probably just talking to myself here lol, but that's my 2c worth anyhow.Īfter losing my Vista PC earlier this year, and getting a replacement 17" laptop with Win 8.1, my MSTS work ground to a total halt. Hopefully, DTG make a few tweaks to make this game look like a brand new release instead of a modified version of a mid 2000s game. It's not far off being upgraded with a new game engine now, and it will be interesting to see. Nonetheless, I'd like to make some rolling stock for it one day, as it still has plenty of life in it. It took me quite a while to rid my custom track of bugs, but this was due to one little error. The graphics still look similar to back then, the methods of placing items/lofts haven't been reviewed, it's still just as prone to bugs/crashes as it was 4 years ago, and it's very picky about things being absolutely perfect (lofts in particular). It just seems to me that it hasn't had a lot done to it since the release of RS in the 2000s. However, the game is fairly easy to get the hang of once you get through the initial learning curve(s). I haven't really bothered with reinstalling Windows/going through lots of rigmarole to get a 14 year old game working again, so apart from Trainz (which I have virtually no experience with in regards to create static objects, let alone track), that only leaves Railworks as an option. The TS/Railworks forum seems to be a ghost town as well. The Trainz forum got a post just under a couple of weeks ago, but apart from that, there's virtually nothing happening. If I didn't know better, I'd say that the Railpage train sim forums are virtually dead.
